Pear Puree

By Chioma 8 Comments

pear-pureePears are wholesome fruits that are fibre rich and as well a good source of vitamin c.

They make a delicious first food for babies and can be added to their cereal, akamu or ogi (pap), custard or served alone as a dessert after a meal.

Add some natural yoghurt for a homemade sweet yoghurt delight or you can mix with other fruit purees or vegetable purees.

Baby’s Pear Puree Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 or 2 firm pears
  • 2-3 tbsps water
  • Milk or natural plain yoghurt (optional)

Method:

  1. Peel off the back of the pear and the middle stalk. Cut into small chunks and put in a pot.
  2. Simmer with water for 5-7 minutes and allow to cool before blending to a purée.
  3. Add a little breast milk to thin down or yogurt to thicken.
