Fruit Yogurt

By Chioma 27 Comments

baby fruit yogurtStore-bought baby fruit yogurt are filled with so much sugar that i personally cannot even put them in my mouth, i’m naturally not a sweet tooth though. I have a few brands that i buy their yogurts when i feel like buying them, especially for when outside the house. Remember that yogurt is very good and beneficial as a first food for babies as they need the fat, and the ones with lives cultures are very good for their stomach

I prefer mixing the plain natural yogurt with fruits for the kids or just plain honey (for one year and above) and they taste so good and filled with better nutrition than those sugar and sweetener-laden ones. It is quite easy once you have your yogurt and fruits at home.

Don’t allow the name to deceive you. You can also give your bigger children this fruit yogurt and as well add honey. For the more adventurous ones, cut the fruits into tiny bits for them to chew on…very tasty and won’t leave you asking what is yogurt because it isn’t full of questionable sugar.

Yesss! Yoghurt! My baby loved it. The unsweetened yoghurt.
However the label indicated it’s partially skimmed.
I don’t know if with that , my baby is getting the required fat.
I gave her plainly. Then also mixed with an avocado puree another time .
I love yoghurt too and guess she is taking after her mummy ??…
I don’t like sugary things either. And I am really making sure to train her in that light as well.

    Thanks mummy’s yum.

PS=: A question. I tried using our blender once to make a carrot puree for her and it wasn’t finely blended. Could it be cos it’s a big blender ? Are there blenders specific for baby foods or can any blender serve ?

Dhemmy, check if you can see whole one for her really cos she needs the fat unlike us that look for skimmed or fat free (lol). For the carrots, i guess the quantity was too small for the big blender to make into a puree. Try getting a hand blender…thats what i use.

Mummy Ono, I don’t know Abuja that well but the big supermarkets and malls should have natural plain yogurt.

Joy, 6 months is the recommended age to start giving your baby anything other than breast or formula milk. Some do start at 4 months, but its up to you to know if your child is ready.

Hi Karen, i can’t because you may not find the one i know where you are. Just look at the label for plain or unsweetened yogurt instead of the flavoured ones.

How did I not know this blog exists. WOW! I love this. Thanks so much for the recipes, God bless you.
I make homemade yogurt for my 2 year old son, but it’s made from a popular brand of powdered milk. Can I still give this to my 8 months old regardless of the fact that the milk used to make it is not infant formula?
Looking forward to your response. Thank you

Thank you so much Jumebi. You can use normal milk for cooking for babies but not as a drink. I don’t know how homemade yogurt is made but if it involves heating the milk up, then it is very ok.

Thank you Victoria. It is always best to try varieties one at a time. Banana, apple, avocado, carrot are generally the best to start with.
