Fruit smoothies are another way to get kids to take a variety of fruits. This does not mean that they shouldn’t be encouraged to eat or chew fruits, which is by far the best way to take our fruits. I call this an indulgence or a treat that should be given not all the time.
When the weather is hot, a cool smoothie will definitely be a better option to give the kids than fizzy drinks. This combination of watermelon and mango will be surely enjoyed either alone with some snacks.
Mangoes are very nutritious but has different vitamin content amongst the various varieties. One thing is sure, they are good immune boosters due to the high beta-carotene content. Combined with watermelon nutrients too, this Mango and Watermelon Smoothie is a healthy and nourishing drink for the kids. It can also be enjoyed by babies.
Mango and Watermelon Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients:
- Ripe Mango
- Watermelon (very sweet one if possible)
- Honey (optional)
- Water or milk (optional)
Method:
- Peel off the back of the mango and cut out the flesh into chunks. Peel and cut the watermelon too.
- Put both in a blender with honey (if using) and whizz until smooth. The water content of the watermelon is enough juice. You can however add some liquid (water or milk) if required.
- Chill the fruits in the fridge (not freezer) before blending if you want a chilled smoothie.
